Welcome to the HAI Southern California Workshoppers Announce List. SoCal-Announce.
List Information:
PURPOSE OF LIST:
The Southern California Workshoppers Announce List was created to distribute announcements to the Southern California HAI
community. Like Socal, it is open to any participant who has completed a
HAI Level 1 workshop anywhere in the world.
WHAT LIST SHOULD I BE ON?
You can subscribe to both Socal and Socal/Annc.
However, the volume of traffic on Socal may at times be challenging.
Socal/Annc is now your source for HAI related announcements only so,
you can unsubscribe from Socal and still be kept up-to-date with the
activities in the Southern California HAI Community. It is our hope that you will
be on both, but you are welcome to choose either or both lists.
MODERATOR:
Unlike the regular Socal list, Socal/Annc is moderated. What
this means is all messages sent to Socal-announce@hai.org will be
reviewed by the list manager for content. If it meets the list guidelines, the
message will be posted as soon as possible. If the message needs
further editing or is vague as to its value, the list manager will contact the
sender for further information. This is necessary only occasionally.
ANNOUNCEMENT FORMAT:
SUBJECT:
Please begin by using a *descriptive* subject heading so that
readers will be able to decide quickly whether the announcement is of
interest to them. For example: "Help needed, moving Saturday" is more
effective than "Help!"
Other information to help determine if it is appropriate for
Socal/Annc:
1) EVENTS:
Is the event listing of likely interest to 4 or more HAI folk? It does
not need to be a HAI event.
What is it - very brief description of what is happening.
Party, seminar, workshop, movie, presentation, etc.
Who is offering it - is it yours or someone you know?
If it is someone you know, are they verifiable HAI folk?
If not, what is the connection which would interest HAI folk?
When & where is it - Date, time, location.
Directions are helpful or a contact person.
How much is it - is it a donation?
$10 to cover expenses?
is it a fund raiser?
or is it a multi marketing scheme to make someone rich?
Where can someone get more information?
telephone numbers, web sites, contact person's e-mail or phone number, etc.
2) Announcements of personal and or life transition
Births, Deaths, marriages, divorces, separations, get well card requests,
someone is in the hospital, moving out of or into the area,
rides needed for long trips or commuting, or car pooling to an event, et.al.
3) For Sale
Garage sale announcements
Car for sale
massage table
etc.
4) Services
Car mechanic, Plumber
fast-framers, home theater installers
therapists
Commercial posting would be limited to once per month -
You can also offer a discount for Socal members.
This is a great way for people in your community to
learn more about who you are
CONFIDENTIALITY:
This mailing list will conform to HAI standards of
confidentiality. Please keep the name of the list confidential, within
the HAI community. Keeping a low profile on the name of the list helps to
avoid spam and other unsolicited bulk e-mail. When you want to send a message
to Socal-Announce AND to one or more additional addresses, please send
the message to Socal-Announce in a message separate from a message sent
to the other addressees.
MESSAGE LENGTH:
Messages must be less than 40,000 characters.
ATTACHMENTS:
Attachments are not allowed.
CLOSED LIST:
The list is closed. The only people who can post to it are
those who are subscribed and are sending a message from the subscribed
address.
WHO IS IN CHARGE:
The List Manager, owner-Socal-announce@hai.org,
coordinates the logistics of maintaining this list. The HAI Internet
Team sets the general policies of the regional mailing lists, but as much as
possible, delegates this authority to the List Manager, who then works
hand-in-hand with subscribers of the list to modify operations as they
see fit. So, if you have any questions or suggestions about the usage or
operation of this list, please forward them to the List Manager,
owner-Socal-announce@hai.org for response.
