Norcal-Announce is for announcements, requests, and similar short posts that are directly related to HAI and HAI folks. Norcal-announce will not accept announcements for events that do not have some HAI connection, public "replies" to previous posts (please send your reply directly to the person who posted), or similar. All posts must observe the list guidelines, including our Commercial Announcement and Third Party guidelines. These are described below.

Subscribe to NorCal-Announce by going to http://www.hai.org/ws/mailsubs.html and filling out the form on that page. For 'List Name' choose 'Northern California'. Choose whether you want messages sent individually or bundled in digest form. Then, to subscribe to both the Norcal Forum and Norcal-announce, where it says 'Select types of messages to receive' choose 'All messages'. Or, to just subscribe to Norcal-announce, where it says 'Select types of messages to receive' choose 'Announcements only'. Finally, fill in the rest of the form and click 'Submit'.

PURPOSE OF LIST: The purpose of this list is to extend the HAI experience beyond the physical borders of the room of love. Lists are meant as a way to build community, to support all HAI participants and to practice living the values expressed in the HAI Mission Statement.
The Northern California Workshoppers Announce List, or NorCal-Announce, is for announcements, requests, and similar short posts that are directly related to HAI and HAI folks. GUIDELINES: These guidelines are updated from time to time. Changes are posted on this website. By reading or posting to the list you agree to be bound by the then-current guidelines.
DIGEST EDITION: There is a digest form of the list for those who want to read everything sent to the list, but would rather receive them in multi-post bulk messages. The disadvantage Is that receipt of the digest messages can be delayed up to 24 hours.
MODERATED LIST: NorCal-Announce is a moderated list. Before distribution, each message is reviewed by the list manager. If it meets the list guidelines, the message will be posted as soon as possible. If not, the list manager will contact the sender. In most cases, this will be unnecessary.
LIST PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES
QUALIFICATIONS: All subscribers must have completed a HAI LIS level 1.
CONFIDENTIALITY: Please observe the confidentiality of the room of love on this list by not forwarding posts to non-members, not discussing the specifics of workshop exercises and not revealing what others may have said during workshops, support groups and other HAI events where there is an expectation of confidentiality. Please keep the name of the list confidential, within the HAI community. Keeping a low profile on the name of the list helps to avoid spam. When you want to send a message to this list AND to one or more additional addresses, please send to this list in a separate message.
SUBJECT: Please begin by using a descriptive subject heading so that readers will be able to decide quickly whether the post is of interest to them. For example: "Help needed, moving Saturday" is more effective than "Help!". The Subject line must start with ADV: for advertisements (see below).
HINTS FOR POSTING: Is the event listing of likely interest to HAI folk? It does not need to be a HAI-sponsored event. But it must have some HAI folks as a part of the organizing whole.
FOR SALE: Personal transactions only - garage sale announcements, personal vehicles, massage tables, furniture, etc. Real estate if your home only, not your neighbor's! Advertising posts are limited to once every 30 days, and should be less than 500 words.
COMMERCIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS (advertisements) are permitted under the following guidelines: You can advertise any service, product or marketable skills of a HAI workshopper. Discounts for workshoppers are encouraged. Advertising posts are limited to once every 30 days, and should be less than 500 words. If you want you can also post one short paragraph reminder within 7 days of the event. A web site with more information about your offering is encouraged.
The Subject line must start with ADV: for all advertisements. This is a HAI list. If money changes hands for any non-HAI event, product, or service, the post is an advertisement, no matter if it is "nonprofit", a "service to the community", a "gift of love", whatever. If money is required, the post is an ad.
THIRD PARTY ANNOUNCEMENTS are not allowed. Norcal-announce is a low-traffic list for HAI folks only. If the person originating the announcement has done a HAI workshop, and the product has a clear connection to the HAI community, it can be posted. It is also okay to post on behalf of HAI folks who are not on NorCal-announce but this must be clear in the post. Posts on behalf of a non-workshopper will be denied. If your non-HAI acquaintances want to use our announce list, please encourage them do a Level 1!
ENFORCEMENT: Membership in this list is a privilege. If it is abused, the list manager may take action. In extreme cases, removal from the list is an option.

You can manage your own subscription at http://www.hai.org/mailman/options/norcal-announce . Here you can submit a change of address request, temporarily unsubscribe for a vacation, and much more.
WHO IS IN CHARGE: The List Managers coordinate the logistics of maintaining this list. The HAI Internet Team sets the general policies of the regional mailing lists, but as much as possible, delegates this authority to the List Managers, who then work hand-in-hand with subscribers of the list to modify operations as they see fit. The list manager may edit portions of your message without your consent if it is a minor issue. Spelling, location, removal of unrelated dialog to name a few. If you have any questions or suggestions about the usage or operation of this list please forward them to the List Managers for response.
